What is a two-tone ring chord diagram
A two-tone ring chord diagram is a bipartite variant of chord diagrams designed for two distinct roles. The full circle is split horizontally: the top half-ring holds every source node in a slate blue-gray ramp, and the bottom half-ring holds every target node in a pink ramp. Each node is an arc sector whose width is proportional to its total flow, and its color walks the mastered gradient from light to dark. Every relationship becomes a thin bezier curve that leaves the source sector’s inner edge, passes through the open center, and lands on the target sector’s inner edge with a small arrowhead — direction and grouping are clear at a glance.

Notes
Accepts .csv text files; source and target names must be disjoint (strict bipartite). The top ring uses slate blue-gray, the bottom pink; flows inherit the source color and arrowheads point at targets. PNG is 2× resolution and SVG is a resolution-independent vector.

How to read this chart
Follow the color split: above the horizontal diameter are all sources (slate ramp), below are all targets (pink). A wider sector means a larger total flow; hue depth only encodes the node’s order within its group, not its magnitude. Pick any arrow-headed flow — it leaves a top source sector and lands inside a bottom target sector: read it as “source → target”. Hover any flow for its exact value when you need precise comparison.
FAQ
How do the source, target and value columns work?
Three-column CSV: source,target,value. Sources and targets must be disjoint (strict bipartite); values must be positive. Up to 120 rows, ≤12 sources and ≤12 targets, 24 sectors at most.
Can I customize the ring colors?
Colors follow the mastered gradients (slate light-to-dark on top, pink dark-to-light on bottom) assigned along the arc in data order; node labels run along the ring tangent automatically, with no manual tuning needed.
Is this chart tool better for slides, reports, or social visuals?
All three can work, but each needs a different emphasis. Slides care about legibility, reports care about structure and annotation, and social visuals care about density and style. Tune colors, labels, and export size for the destination.
When should I export PNG instead of SVG?
